Myles O’Reilly - AV Performance

Venue: UCD Cinema, UCD Student Centre                2:10pm - 2:40pm

Myles O'Reilly is an Irish musician and filmmaker, born in Dublin, Ireland. He has released several ambient albums since his acclaimed debut LP, Cabin Lights Off (2020). “I like to compare my approach to writing and performing ambient music to creating an incense or a perfume, evocative notes as subtle as a smell, and with the same purpose in a space: to invite and amplify a transportive atmosphere and mood.” His compositions sculpt ethereal landscapes that echo the patterns of nature and the inner weather of emotion, ranging from quiet, meditative restraint to lush, expansive release.

In 2025, O'Reilly collaborated with President Michael D. Higgins on Against All Certainty, a spoken-word ambient album for which he served as composer, producer, performer, and engineer. The project blends Higgins’ poetry with immersive sonic textures to reflect on the incredibly rich and formative life of the poet before he became Ireland’s President, from childhood to adulthood.

As a filmmaker, O'Reilly has produced an expansive body of music videos and documentaries. He is particularly known for his visually poetic and contemplative approach, often exploring themes of nature, spirituality, and human connection through music. One of his most acclaimed projects is Arbutus Yarns, a music documentary archive and YouTube channel that, for over a decade, has captured a grassroots renaissance in Irish folk and traditional music.
