FAQs

Although the events won’t start until 2.15pm, the venue will be accessible from 1.45pm to facilitate attendees who need more time to get familiar with the environment.

There is limited on-street parking in the streets around Richmond Barracks. This is paid parking, so please bring coins/card/use the Parking Tag app. We encourage people to use public transport where possible. See previous question for details of Luas, bus, etc. We will have security managing traffic at the entrance for drop offs.

There will be some seating available – some picnic benches, limited fold out chairs and a number of large bean bags.

Yes! If you need to be assured of a seat, please feel free to bring a camping chair with you, or blankets, cushions, etc.

Loaf Cafe will be catering for the event. They will provide sweet and savory food, tea and coffee and all the sustenance for attendees. We will be adding more on the menu closer to the time.

Feel free to bring a picnic, snacks, and your own preferred foods and (non-alcoholic) drinks.

There are four standard toilets and one accessible toilet at Richmond Barracks. An additional space for changing clothes (if needed) will also be made available.

Senco Sensory Solutions are providing their Sensory Express Bus as well as some additional sensory equipment. Please feel free to bring other small toys, fidgets and equipment that help you to regulate.

Smells – in addition to usual indoor and outdoor environment smells, there may be additional smells from food catering.

Noises – you can expect to hear talking, shouting, vocal stims as well as amplified music, conversations and performances. As the event takes place in the city, there may be traffic sounds in the background, but Richmond Barracks is set back from any main roads, so its low level.

Visual – if it is a sunny day, there may be bright light. We will not be using lighting/haze, etc., outdoors. There will be nothing unusual in any of the lighting.

Weather/temperature – Neuroconvergence will go ahead rain or shine. Please keep an eye on the forecast for the day so that you can plan what to bring. We do have the advantage of some indoor spaces if it rains and shade if it’s very sunny.

 

Environmental: Please also note that there is grass in the outdoor areas and at this time of year it may be warm and there may be flies, bees, etc.

This event is for all ages and all neurotypes. Some of the events/performances are geared more towards younger audiences and some are for adults – this will be indicated clearly in the complete programme.

Yes there will be signs and communication boards around the site.

Yes, you can come and go as you need to throughout the event. You will be gently stamped if you need to leave so you may return. Alternatively security can take a name. It will be very relaxed.

The event will be spread between the outdoor grounds and indoor area at Richmond Barracks. The indoor spaces include – Performance and discussion spaces, loaf cafe, indoor take a break space.

The outdoor areas at Richmond Barracks are quite large and we are limiting capacity, so there is plenty of space for running, spinning, dancing and other physical activities that can help with decompressing.

This is an alcohol-free event. There is no alcohol for sale onsite and attendees are not permitted to bring alcohol.

Yes we will be preparing a visual guide and easy read guide to send to all attendees a week in advance of the event. It will also be available for download from the website.

Please bring along any smaller items that you feel will support you having an enjoyable experience at Neuroconvergence. Things like sunscreen, snacks, sunglasses, water wipes, blankets, cushions, raingear, etc,.

Photography and Filming

There will be a very small crew taking photographs and videos during the day to document Neuroconvergence. They will be respectful of people’s right to privacy and will follow best practice in relation to release forms for under 18s. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please feel free to communicate that directly to the crew on the day.

Dogs

Assistance Dogs are welcome in all areas of the gardens and buildings. Richmond Barracks is dog-friendly, so you can bring pet dogs if you would like to, but they must be kept on leashes at all times, and will not be admitted to indoor performance and workshop spaces.
